Project #12: Le Sel d'Issey

Published on 29 December 2024 at 10:22

I had a lot of fun while shooting this bottle.

I don't know why. Probably I like the simple aesthetic of this bottle, or I like the idea of adding a touch of darkness and mystery to a crystal clear fragrance, inspired by the power of the sea.

I also took some time to experiment with lighting, and I must confess that I'm pretty satisfied with the final result.

The editing process didn't take so long. A couple of little adjustments, a couple of masks and boom! Le Sel d'Issey is ready to be shared on this website.

I hope you enjoy the images ✌🏻

Le Sel d'Issey

About the perfume:

A Symphony of Salt and Sea

Le Sel d'Issey, the latest olfactory creation from fashion house Issey Miyake, is a bold exploration of the essence of salt—an element often considered scentless.

In 2024, renowned perfumer Quentin Bisch, the nose behind countless successful fragrances recently launched on the market, transformed this paradox into an exhilarating marine-woody fragrance that feels like a seaside escape, bottled for everyday wear.

From the first spritz, Le Sel d'Issey immerses you in a refreshing embrace of sea salt and ginger. The initial burst is certainly nothing new, but is super invigorating, blending the sharpness of spice with the crisp tang of ocean air. As it settles, the heart reveals a textured interplay of seaweed and vetiver, conjuring the image of sun-warmed rocks and briny waves lapping at the shore. The base notes—cedarwood and oakmoss—add a grounding, earthy warmth, reminiscent of driftwood washed ashore.

For me, what sets this fragrance apart is its artistry in balancing contrasts. It marries the untamed vastness of the sea with the solidity of earth, resulting in a composition that's both invigorating and meditative. It's a scent that invites you to pause, breathe deeply, and connect with nature.

Talking about nature and eco-conscious luxury, you need to know that sustainability is woven into the DNA of Le Sel d'Issey. The fragrance boasts 95% naturally derived ingredients, and its sleek, minimalistic bottle is designed to be refillable.

If I should describe this fragrance I would say that it’s not merely a "marine scent" but a sensory journey—a revitalizing experience that lingers without overpowering. It’s ideal for those who seek a fragrance that feels fresh, modern, and invigorating, even if the olfactory profile isn’t so new or unique, but after all, still very pleasing.
